How to Link Your NIN Number

Recently, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has ordered telecom operators in the country to link all SIM cards with the National Identification Number (NIN). Failure to comply by December 31st, 2020 will have their lines being blocked.

However, due to the relapse of second phase of Covid-19 that required social distancing all Telecom operators in Nigeria; now decide and unveiled codes that allow people/users link their National Identification Number (NIN) to their SIM Card.

 

Moreover, on December 14th, 2020, Dr. Isa A.I who is the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy (CDE); held a meeting with all the concerned companies about linking the SIM card to NIN. He ordered to stop the registration of new SIM in the country.

Based on the briefing, conclusions were drawn on the following.

  • To stop the registration of new SIM card.
  • To block active SIM cards that has not been upgraded/registered.
  • Mandatory record update on all SIM.
  • Customers must submit the NIN number within two weeks from the due date.
  • Licensing withdrawal from any defaulted network provider.

 

This follows a two-week ultimatum given by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to esteemed operators and customers.

How to Link NIN in Airtel Line  

To successfully link your NIN to an Airtel phone number, simply follow these steps:

  • Dial *121# on your Airtel number you want to link to.
  • Type 1 “NIN capture” and send.
  • Enter your 11 digit NIN and send. (e.g. 72029071585)

Wait for the message to confirm your submission. In case you get an error, wait a while and try again later.

 

How to link NIN to MTN SIM Card

Below is how to link NIN to your MTN line using your phone:

Dial *785#

11 Enter your 11-digit NIN, and “Send”.

How to link NIN to Glo Line

Glo SIM card users can use any of these methods to link their NIN number

  1. Go to www.gloworld.com/ng/nin to fill in your information and link.
  2. In the information box, Type in the first name and last name, middle name optional, phone number, and NIN number and email address; and finally send.

You can use the text message format to connect it to your Globacom line

  • Send text: UPDATENIN then NIN number, first name, last name to 109
  • Example:{ Updatenin 72014989522 Demola, Olawale} send to 109
  • This should be done on your phone number you need to link.
